Too busy for my own good.

I like quiet time, spending time with my wife and family... Shopping, more shopping and just a little more shopping. I love catching suspense movies, art film, thrillers (but no aliens exploding out of people's guts - guts belong inside the body and need to remain there during the movie).

I like long walks on the beach at night - ok, thats something i got from Elimidate. I hate reality tv - its like watching a train wreck in slooooowwww motion. I like watching Nancy Grace TV - how someone can spend so much time talking about so little, get a dozen different commentators to give their point of view and make the utterly insignificant into something so important is a skill i would like to learn. Of cource, Nancy and i do have something in common, we both have twins (although for the record, her's are nothing to do with me). So maybe im off to a good start.

I was born in England, my family emigrated to Australia when i was 7, and i was raised in Western Australia - which like the name suggests, is on the West Coast of Australia. Think San Diego with the population of Des Moines and less water. Western Australia is 3 times bigger than Texas and with the population of just West Virgina. Of the 2 million people living in Western Australia, about 1.8 million live in one city - Perth. We used to call it "The Bubble" because once you drove out of it, you had a three day drive to the next city. It was literally a bubble of civilization on the west coast - all by its lonesome.

I worked in the Travel and Toursim industry for a while. Got to travel around Australia. Worked for the West Australian Tourism Commission, Tourism New South Wales, The Australian Tourism Commission. Got to climb Uluru (Ayers Rock), visit The Olgas, Fly over the Bungle Bungles and visit Darwin and watch the sun set over the Arafura Sea. Lots of great memories! Then I worked for the TAB - Totalisator Agency Board - the government department that looks after all offcourse betting for the horse races. Yup, only in Australia would you have a government department for betting. Gambling people can party!! A fun crowd to work for. Worked for the Western Australian Turf Club (the group that race the horses with the buggies attached - they tend to party in a more high society way, place a bet while downing your Oysters Kilpatrick). The only problem with working in Perth, is that as you advance up the corporate ladder, you have to travel more and more. All the work is in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hongkong, Europe and the USA.

Our home church in Australia was Riverview on the west coast. Former Rhema church that struck off on its own more Aussie direction. Met lots of great people there. Got married there. Did i tell you Riverview church was located opposite the State's largest (and only) casino. Notice a bit of a theme in my life. I can assure you - i dont have a problem, really i dont... And I'll bet you $10 on that! Oh, we did have our wedding reception at the function center attached to the casino.

On the Riverview front, they now have a church in Orange County, California - way to go guys, Riverview OC! Who would have thought all those years ago, back in the Sterling Street days, that such a thing would ever happen? Still, the River of God can take you many places you never thought you would go.

After working in Western Australia for about 5 years, we moved to Minneapolis in 1994 - stayed just over a year before finding out we were having twins. Loved everything about Minneapolis except the cold. Loved the Mall of America - could have lived there.

We went home, the twins were born, and we lived in Perth for a few years. Australia rolled out Cable & Satelite TV that year - which after living in the USA - was a service that we now regarded as essential to civilized life. Then in 1997 we moved to live in Hong Kong to work for Hong Kong Telecom. Got there the week after the British handed it over to the Chinese. Lived on Hongkong island in Tai Koo Sing - Apartment 4D Nam Sham Mansions for about a year (it all comes back). All i can say is fun to visit, not to live - especially with three children. Yes, i'll have the shredded sea blubber happy meal with the side of whatever that thing with tenticles is - and please make sure its dead this time, or at least stun it long enough that i can eat it before it crawls away.

Anyway, made the best of it, went back to Australia, and then came out to America again in 1999 in time for the tech boom and the tech implosion. At the same time we moved to San Francisco, our dear friends, Barb, Jeremy & Oscar winged their way to the UK, where they now live in Bradford and attend Abundant Life Center - Bradford. So here we are in the USA, with dear friends in America, in Australia and in the UK.

I worked some great San Francisco based companies, PG&E (as in Erin Brockovich), then Wells Fargo Bank. While we were in San Francisco, we discovered Christian City Church. Never heard of it before. Funny, came all the way from Australia to find a church that originated in Australia. Moved to Atlanta in November 2005.

Being Australian - British - American is like being a half caf double decaf with a twist of lemon from LA story. I miss cold pork pies with hot english mustard and worcestershire sauce, meat pies, sausage rolls, pasties and chico rolls (contains no spaniards i can assure). I miss puffin donuts (the kind filled with real cream), I miss smarties, cadbury's chocolates (all 2000 varieties), pollywaffles, violet crumbles and passiona sodas. But what i love - Ben and Jerries icecream, Hagan Daz icecream, the cost of soda (when i was young we used to get soda once a decade - only on special occasions and when there was a lunar eclipse). I love that life is so much better in America, i love that America is the land of possibilities, dreams, imagination, invention and hard work. And when you mix those things together, you get sometime indescribably amazing (in a good kind of way).

My work reflects my likes. I like to shop and my work is about shopping. I run an online retail business for Christian businesses that want to sell Christian products. From Jewelry to Clothing, Watches to Bibles, Christian Fiction to Church Supplies. Anyway, the point is more than just selling stuff. The point is in communicating the God given testimony of artists around the world in a way that connects with people on the internet. Fern and I are now working with another good California friend, Meri Crouley on season 5 of her TV show, Now Is The Time which will roll out later this year - its a show about discovering God's purpose and passion for your life.

So i hope you have enjoyed my long story. At least now you will know a little bit more about me and what i've been up to these last few decades.

Bill, just wanted to say thanks again for all you made happen for me and Josephine. We really had a great time. How did things turn out for you? I still need to get a loop ordered through Stuller. What is the easiest way to do that? Keep us in your prayers, we talked to a lot of companies down there and also am still proceeding with the self publishing until I hear from one of them.
