Special Delivery
"Special Delivery, Please sign here." The Postman just made my day. I got a Special Delivery! It was a good mail day! I love the good ones. I recently got a $35. check from our electric company. We're part of a co-op, so if we use electricity efficiently they return some of the savings to the customers. I've gotten one every year! Those deliveries are welcome any time. Others, not so much. Sometimes mailboxes contain things marked, "Collections Dept"; or "Disconnect Warning"; or "Dear John..."
Yesterday I rejoiced over a RETURNED package! Why would that be wonderful? Because that package contains my daughters handmade designer wedding gown! I'd stupidly mailed it with no tracking, and it sat marked "Undeliverable" for nearly a month, in a massive NYC post office! And it didn't get lost or destroyed, it got returned! I was never more thankful to see a mistake. The peasants rejoiced.
God also makes Special Deliveries. He sends the Holy Spirit at just the right moment. He is my safety in conflict. He is my Comforter. He shelters me when the storms would destroy me. He saves me from my worst enemy, even when it's me. He knows what, and when, and where I will need Him the most, and He always delivers! Just like the oath of every Postman, "Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night shall prevent me from my appointed rounds." God is ALWAYS there when I need Him!
