I think Christ set us free and now we have liberty. Liberty is the ability to choose to do right or wrong. Liberty is true freedom- we are not bound to anything. Before we became born again, we were bound to sin but Christ set us free from sin. Does that mean we no longer sin? No, we live in liberty and choose whether we live in sin or righteousness.
In order for freedom to become manifest, liberty must come first; for the Spirit of God is liberty, and when we receive Christ, or become justified, saved, we receive that liberty. After that comes freedom, for freedom is the ability to live within that liberty which is the Spirit of God. Furthermore, liberty in Greek is authority; so, therefore, liberty arrives first to gives us God, for our hearts were open to change and thus revelation entered into our lives and we were saved, and then freedom arrives allowing us to live within its domain so that we may exercise the authority we have in Christ, for we have been raised from the dead with Christ, and thus we are God's representatives upon the earth. The Great Commission. Greater works you will do than I have done. All those speak to authority, which is freedom, or liberty. They are like the trinity, all testify to each other.
